Jeromy Farkas releases donors list, challenges mayor to do the same
Jeromy’s 2025 campaign brought in more donations in its first 10 days than the first four months of his 2021 campaign. Meanwhile, the mayor remains silent on donors since Jan. 1 – and a municipal political party is set to host a $350 pay-for-access event later this month.
March 12, 2025: Mayoral candidate Jeromy Farkas is taking a stand for transparency in Calgary’s 2025 election by publishing a regularly-updated list of donors on www.jeromy.ca.
This advance disclosure demonstrates Jeromy’s commitment to transparency as both a candidate and mayor.
“At a time when backroom deals, political parties, and special interests are creeping into municipal politics, voters deserve to know who is funding their next mayor,” said Jeromy. “By voluntarily releasing--and updating--my donor list in full, I am proving my commitment to open and honest leadership.”
While some candidates may claim to be independent, Jeromy argues that without full disclosure, there’s no way for voters to know who is truly working for them — and who might be answering to outside interests.
Alberta’s municipal election laws require financial disclosure after the campaign, but Jeromy argues that waiting until after the votes are counted is an insult to Calgarians.
“This information should be available today, not buried a year before or months after an election. While the mayor met required disclosure rules by sharing her 2024 donors, she has continued fundraising since the beginning of January and has yet to share a single new name. We also have a political party holding a $350 per ticket pay-for-access fundraiser at the end of the month with zero commitment to share their donors prior to election day,” Jeromy said.
“Right now, incumbent candidates such as the mayor are asking for donations for their campaigns while simultaneously voting on things like a billion-dollar arena, the private development of parks, and deciding who gets lucrative City contracts,” said Jeromy.
Jeromy is urging every candidate in the race to immediately disclose their donor lists in full and allow Calgarians to see who is backing their campaigns.
“If a candidate won’t tell you who’s funding them now, how can you trust them to be transparent once they’re in office?” he added.
Jeromy’s donor list shows strong momentum as the candidate best positioned to deliver change at City Hall; in its first week, more donors stepped up to support Jeromy’s campaign in 2025 than did in the first four months of his 2021 campaign. For a brief period, the donation processing system was overloaded with demand.
“It’s deeply humbling to receive such tangible support from Calgarians. We can already see by the names on the donor list that we are building a coalition of folks from all stripes who are proud to see their names published together,” said Jeromy.
“Whether folks are giving their time or money, they are joining a growing team that wants a new path forward for all Calgarians. Together, we will build a future with housing we can afford, jobs we can count on, safe streets for our kids, and leadership we can trust.”
When people donate to Jeromy’s campaign, they can expect to see their names listed when the disclosure page (www.jeromy.ca/donate) is updated within the week.
